New Faculty Announcement: David Kiefer, MD

We are pleased David Kiefer, MD, has joined the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health as a Clinical Assistant Professor.

Since October of 2016, Dr. Kiefer has been working as a float physician at the UW Health Arboretum Clinic in addition to being a Longitudinal Teaching Coach for the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, providing Integrative Medicine consultations for the Research Park Clinic, and assisting with a research project within the Institute of Aging.

Dr. Kiefer has a medical degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison.   After medical school, he completed his residency at Swedish Family Medicine in Seattle, WA. Since then, Dr. Kiefer has worked with numerous employers in the areas of family medicine, integrative medicine, and ethnobotany. Dr. Kiefer's research centers on the use of herbal medicine, and he regularly teaches about that topic for conferences and universities. He is also fluent in Spanish and often travels to Latin America on research and teaching trips. Before coming to the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Dr. Kiefer worked as a family physician at Group Health Cooperative of South Central WI.

Dr. Kiefer bikes to work (if it's not too cold or wet), and spends some of his free time at his farm and vineyard in western Dane County.
