Faculty Profile: Maggie Larson, DO

We are pleased Maggie Larson, DO, has joined the Department of Family Medicine as an Assistant Professor (CHS).

Starting in September, Maggie has been providing patient care and resident education at UW Health Verona Family Medicine Clinic. 

Maggie received her medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO.  Shethen completed her residency at the Research Family Medicine Residency in Kansas City, MO, Family Medicine Residency Program, where she also served as Chief Resident.  Following residency, Maggie has been working with the Family Medicine, Mille Lacs Health System, Onamia, MN as VP of Medical Staff, Critical Access Hospital, Executive Member of the Board of Directors; Executive Member of Mille Lacs Health System Foundation Board and Chair of the Obstetrical Committee, plus Medical Director of Reach Out and Read.  There she practiced full spectrum family medicine including inpatient and outpatient medicine, obstetrics, nursing home, as well as covering the Emergency Room and and Geriatric Psychiatric Inpatient Unit.

Maggie is committed to providing full-spectrum family medicine but has particular interests in education and training in women's health, pediatrics, and rural health care.

In her spare time, as if she has any with three wonderful young sons ages 8, 5 and 2 with her husband Jay, Maggie enjoys cooking, hiking, camping, and spending time with family.
