Eugene & Linda Farley Lecture and Reception - Sept 11, 2013

We are pleased to announce the 2013 Eugene and Linda Farley Lecture and Reception will take place on September 11th at the HSLC. 

This year's lecturer will be Jack M. Westfall, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer at the Colorado Healthop. 

The evening will begin with a reception in the HSLC Atrium at 5:00 PM with the program and lecture to start at 6:15 PM

The 2013 John J. Frey, MD Creative Writing Awards will also be presented.

John (Jack) M. Westfall, MD, MPH
Associate Dean for Rural Health
Director of High Plains Research Network (HPRN)
University of Colorado School of Medicine

Jack Westfall attended medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his training at Rose Family Medicine Residency in Denver, Colorado. In 1997, Dr. Westfall founded the High Plains Research Network, an integrated practice-based research network of rural and frontier hospitals, ambulatory clinics, and clinicians in rural Colorado dedicated to improving care in rural communities. The HPRN has conducted research on a host of topics including cardiac care, palliative care, medical mistakes, colon cancer prevention, asthma, and the impact of underinsurance on access to care. The HPRN is guided by a community advisory council (C.A.C.) of farmers, ranchers, school teachers, and others. Three years ago Jack was named the Director for the Colorado Area Health Education Center, which focuses on increasing the pipeline of young people from rural Colorado interested in health careers. Dr. Westfall was recently appointed the Associate Dean for Rural Health at the CU School of Medicine.
