Faculty Profile: Kevin O’Connell, DO, PhD

We are pleased Kevin O’Connell, DO, PhD, has joined the Department of Family Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  Since November 2011, Kevin has been providing patient care and teaching clinical care to medical students at UW Health Urgent Care Centers and other UW Health clinical locations.  

Kevin received his PhD from the University of Illinois and hismedical degree from Michigan State University.  After medical school, he completed an internship at Botsford General Hospital and subsequently a one year of residency in Internal Medicine also at Botsford.  Kevin then completed a Family Medicine residency with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine.  He has continued interest and involvement with Biomedical Informatics, please do so here.  Kevin is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Kevin previously worked as an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Services at Meriter Hospital and as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Kevin’s professional interests include Biomedical Informatics, Natural Language Processing, and Primary Care.

Outside of medicine, Kevin enjoys reading and sports.
