Renner/Hansen Awards Ceremony - Nov 14, 2012

Please join us for the Renner/Hansen Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, November 14, beginning at 5:15 PM at the Pyle Center in Madison, WI.

This awards ceremony will honor the following individuals:

  • Randall T. Brown, MD, PhD – Marc Hansen, MD Lectureship

The Department of Family Medicine annually honors a junior faculty member who has made a substantial contribution to the education of students and residents.  The award honors the contributions of Marc Hansen, MD, who, as founder of one of the nation’s first family medicine residencies and an important voice in the development of primary care, has served as teacher, mentor and friend to generations of family physicians in the State of Wisconsin.

  • Mr. Tim Size, Executive Director, Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative – John H. Renner, MD Wisconsin Idea Award

The John H. Renner, MD Wisconsin Idea Award recognizes a citizen of the State of Wisconsin who has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to family medicine and the health needs of the people of Wisconsin as envisioned by the late Dr. John H. Renner.  Award recipients must have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to facilitating provision of care by family physicians, especially in underserved areas of Wisconsin.

    • David Ringdahl, MD - UW Health DeForest-Windsor
  • Robert Drachenberg Staff Excellence Award
    • Shari Barlow - Research, Madison
    • Bethany Vande Kolk - Fox Valley
    • Samantha Erickson - Fox Valley
    • Christie Legler - Office of Medical Student Education - Madison
  • The William E. Scheckler Research Awards
    • Bruce Barrett, MD, PhD, was chosen for Outstanding Research Publication
    • Jonathan Meiman, MD, was chosen for Outstanding Student Research Project
  • The James E. Davis, MD, MS Award for Quality Improvement
    • The Northeast Family Medicine Center has won for its project "Office Visit Efficiency."
    • The UW Health Clinic - Fox Valley has won the learner-led award for its project "Development of an Obesity Screening and Brief Intervention Process for a Primary Care Setting."
