Faculty Profile: Mark Petrovani, MD

We are pleased Mark Petrovani, M.D. has joined the Department of Family Medicine. Mark has been a faculty member at UW Health-DeForest/Windsor Clinic since November 2011.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Mark has lived in many countries throughout the world and still enjoys traveling extensively.  He spent his formative years in Trinidad and Tobago and came to the U.S. to complete his undergraduate studies in biological science and the history of development at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Mark received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  Following medical school, he completed a residency Social Medicine and subsequently a residency in Family Medicine at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York City.

In between residencies Mark worked for many years as a medical director in the medical communications and education industry.

Mark’s professional interests include the provision of care to the underserved, cultural proficiency, health disparities among racial/ethnic populations, and the impact on health outcomes of limited English proficiency.  He has a strong interest in Global Health and Tropical Medicine, substance abuse treatment, and Hepatitis C and HIV infection.

Outside of medicine, Mark enjoys hiking, downhill skiing, curling up with a good book and spending time with his two college aged children when they can squeeze him into their busy schedules.  He will be practicing full spectrum family medicine including maternity and inpatient care.
