Faculty Profile: Jane Anderson, MD

We are pleased Jane Anderson, M.D., M.S. has joined the Department of Family Medicine.  Jane has been a faculty member at Verona Family Medicine since January 2011. 

Jane received a master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and medical degree from the University of Wisconsin.  Following medical school, she completed a fellowship in Preventive Oncology with the Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention.  She completed her residency at Mercy Health System in Janesville, Wisconsin where she was Academic Chief Resident.  During residency she received the Resident Teacher Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the Award for Graduate Education in Family Practice by the American Academy of Family Physicians.  She was selected by the Mercy Family Medicine Residency to receive the Resident Educator Award.   

Jane worked as a community physician in Janesville for 7 years where she enjoyed full-spectrum family medicine, supervising residents, and teaching medical students.  She completed a Primary Care Faculty Development Fellowship and was a volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor for the UW Department of Family Medicine.

Jane’s professional interests include maternity care, patient education, mental health counseling, and lifestyle interventions to improve health (including dietary choices, exercise, weight management, smoking cessation).

Outside of medicine, Jane enjoys cooking and gardening.  She is a busy mom keeping up with 4 boys and all their activities.  Someday she hopes to sit through an entire meal!
