Faculty Profile: Hollis King, DO, PhD

Please join us in welcoming Hollis King, DO, PhD, to the Department of Family Medicine.  Dr. Hollis King is the OPP Program Director in the UW Family Medicine Residency.  Dr. King specializes in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).  He is an active clinical researcher and has published research on the benefits of prenatal osteopathic treatment, the impact of osteopathic treatment on immune system function, and research supportive of cranial bone motion. Research proposals in development include projects on OMM for epilepsy, mild traumatic brain injury, glaucoma, and balance/equilibrium in the elderly.

Prior to joining UW Dr. King was a Professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practice at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona campus in Mesa, AZ.  He is a Past President and Fellow of the American Academy of Osteopathy.  Dr. King is the Chief Editor of and a contributor to The Science and Clinical Application of Manual Therapy published in 2011 by Elsevier which delineates the research supportive of OMT for systemic disorders as well as musculoskeletal conditions.

When not working, Dr. King enjoys gardening, spoiling his grandchildren and spectator sports – Go Badgers, Packers and Brewers!
